On July 26th, the halls of The City of Lougheed Mall were buzzing with more than just shoppers. Over 9,300 community members stopped by to experience something truly unique: kids running their very own businesses.
From the outside, it may have looked like a fun marketplace filled with creative products and young entrepreneurs. But for the children behind the booths, it was so much more.
The Numbers Tell Part of the Story
- Average earned: $288 per KidPreneur
- Average paying customers per child: 32
- Total event foot traffic: 9,321 people
That means for every “yes,” there were countless “no thank you’s” — polite declines, quick walk-bys, or the dreaded silence of someone not stopping at all. And yet, this was the magic.

Real Learning in Real Time
Unlike a classroom test or a traditional grading system, this event rewarded adaptability, not memorization. Success wasn’t guaranteed by working the hardest or preparing the most — it came from listening to customers, making decisions, and being willing to change course.
Many children adjusted their:
- Pricing strategies
- Table displays
- Elevator pitches
- Even the way they interacted with customers
This wasn’t just about selling products. It was about resiliency, critical thinking, self-awareness, tenacity, empathy, communication, and decision-making. These are the skills that will carry them far beyond one day at a market.
Engagement Like No Other
When kids care deeply — about their product, their brand, their logo, their story — and when there’s real money and real customers involved, they are engaged at a level no worksheet can match.
They were motivated not because an adult told them to be, but because they wanted to be. They learned not only from their own experiences, but also from watching peers — inspired, encouraged, and sometimes even a little competitive in healthy ways.
The Community Felt It Too
Shoppers weren’t just buying — they were connecting. Many customers were so proud of their purchases that they carried them straight to the mall’s customer service desk to show them off and share how much they appreciated the event. The community didn’t just attend; they became part of the learning journey.

Bringing This Kind of Experience Home
The true success of the BizKids Summer Market wasn’t the sales totals — it was the transformation in the kids themselves. They walked away more confident, more resilient, and more ready for the real world.
And the best part? Your child can experience this same kind of growth at home.
Our Launch Your Business At-Home Program gives kids the tools to create their own business from scratch — inventing products, designing logos, learning to pitch, and even selling to real customers. It’s hands-on, fun, and designed to build the same essential life skills that shone so brightly at the Summer Market.
